Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan has made the first known addition to his offensive staff.
According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the Titans are hiring former Chicago Bears wide receivers coach and passing-game coordinator Tyke Tolbert as their wide receivers coach.
Wolfe adds that Tolbert was in high demand but ultimately chose to work for the Titans because of Callahan, who he has a connection with from their days together with the Denver Broncos, where they won a Super Bowl in 2015.
Tolbert, who was fired by the Bears last month, brings a wealth of experience with him to Nashville. He’s been a coach at the professional level since 2003, and he held multiple college jobs before that.
On Tolbert’s watch, the Bears’ passing attack improved from dead-last in 2022 to No. 27 in 2023. In addition, Bears wideout DJ Moore had a career-best season in the latter year.
And, as you’ll find out by scrolling through the Twitter reaction below, he has a history of developing other good receivers.

New #Titans WR coach Tyke Tolbert has a ton of experience. He's been coaching WRs at the NFL level for 21 years now.

The thing about Tyke Tolbert is that he has an elite name.

The Titans land a couple home run hires in DC Dennard Wilson and WRs coach Tyke Tolbert. Both have an extensive resume when it comes to developing talent.

Titans get Dennard Wilson at DC and Tyke Tolbert at WRs, landing two coaches who were in high demand back to back

Don’t let that second part of that fool you, Tyke Tolbert did very little for the #Bears WR room. Wouldn’t get too excited about this hiring if you’re a #Titans fan. https://t.co/BN4B226mQD

Tolbert has a Carthon connection as well. He was a tight ends coach on the Florida staff in 2002 when Carthon was a running back for the Gators.
He was also a candidate at one point to join Mike Mularkey's staff here in Nashville in 2017. https://t.co/ji84MOpc9J
