In a bit of a surprise, Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones was not selected during the first two days of the NFL draft.
That changed quickly on the draft’s final day. Big Thanos was selected by the Cleveland Browns and will continue his playing days in Ohio. The Indiana native was a second-team All-Big Ten performer the past two seasons. After opting to leave early for the draft, he was expected to go much earlier than the 111th pick.
There were plenty of thoughts on Jones getting selected by the Browns and here are some of the best twitter reactions to the pick.
McNeil love it
BROWNS TAKE A BUCKEYE!!

McNeil is a big Buckeye fan and has to be ecstatic about Jones playing for his favorite professional team, the Browns.

There’s a reason Jones is nicknamed Big Thanos.
Pro Football Focus’ Sam Monson
Dawand Jones has 1st round talent and could be one of the very best tackles of this draft.
But teams are terrified he's gonna be another Aaron Gibson and 400lb his way out of the league.
Classic high-upside pick

Reaction
Jones skipping the NFL combine and Ohio State’s pro day might have caused his drop but he does have significant upside.
Alex Bryan makes a good point
Luke Wypler and Dawand Jones are two perfect examples for why the NFL draft needs to allow the option for kids to return to school if they don’t go as high as they figured.

Reaction
This was prior to Jones getting picked but Bryan has a point. The NBA allows players to go through the process and withdraw their names. Maybe the NFL should consider a similar system.
Browns Digests Matt Wilson
This is what #Browns fans can expect from new OT Dawand Jones on the front side of zone plays.
He’s not fast enough to consistently run defenders off the ball, but he’s going to be able to latch on and torque them inside.
Effective none the less.pic.twitter.com/8YtwmBgiM8

Reaction
As mentioned, Jones isn’t a finished product but has loads of potential.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero
At No. 111, the #Browns take Ohio State OT Dawand Jones. The pre-draft process was tough on Jones, who also was downgraded by some teams on medical. But he’s 6-8, 370+ with an 88-inch wingspan and didn’t allow a sack last season. A high-upside addition in Round 4.

Reaction
It very much looks like the consensus that Jones is a high-upside pick for the Browns.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper
Dawand Jones didn’t allow a single sack last season. Who wants a starting-caliber right tackle? https://t.co/1xNaRpNrlC

Reaction
From before Jones was selected but Kiper has a point even though many think he’s over his head.
