The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to name Doug Pederson their new head coach, which means the team can now start the process of building around Trevor Lawrence.
Leftwich, who was a former NFL quarterback himself, was one of the top-3 options in the eyes of fans for the simple fact that he’d be a great teacher for Lawrence and has a Super Bowl title to his name. And while most fans were hoping that Bryon Leftwich would’ve been the guy, there is still excitement about the hiring of Pederson as he should be tremendously better than Urban Meyer.
Here are just a few of the few Twitter reactions to Thursday’s big news:
Let’s get to work💪🏼 – Welcome to #DUUUVAL ! Great days ahead. https://t.co/1Mburp2ZCp

Jaguars and Doug Pederson were connected at the start—and Jacksonville was seen as a likely landing spot then. Pederson's interest cooled a bit with the Jags sticking with Trent Baalke.
Will be interesting to see if Pederson gets someone like Rick Spielman to come with him. https://t.co/WJSTEVIvsQ

Doug Pederson will be good for Trevor Lawrence. That’s the most important thing.

Doug Pederson is the perfect coach for the @Jaguars at this time.
1. Credibility (1x Super Bowl winner)
2. Proven QB developer (adaptable and flexible w/QB; SEE work for Wentz, Foles & Hurts)
3. A+ communicator/relationship builder (Needs to repair trust w/players & coaches) https://t.co/S7bHu4oeeg— Bucky Brooks (@BuckyBrooks) February 4, 2022
Think in the end Pederson is a fine addition Jacksonville, he has had plenty of success coaching quarterbacks, including Carson Wentz and Nick Foles, obviously accomplished as a SB winner.

Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence should be an excellent pairing imo. The #Jaguars, against all odds, hired one of the most qualified humans to lead their football team and mold their young QB.

Doug Pederson is a good hire for Jacksonville but can Doug overcome The Baalke? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/EwWxKHI5q3

Right after Urban Meyer was fired, I was among many – including @HaysCarlyon & @1010XLLauren on our show – who hoped Doug Pederson was the guy. The 1st name many of us mentioned.
The offensive mind of Pederson with the skills of Trevor. I’m really excited.

Doug Pederson will need 3 wins to move into 5th place on the Jaguars all-time wins list, replacing current 5th place HC Urban Meyer.

Wrote a column about why former #Eagles HC Doug Pederson made sense for the #Jaguars when Urban Meyer was fired back in December: https://t.co/ypfrOZk7vK

The Eagles host Doug Pederson’s Jaguars in 2022 at the Linc. That’s going to be a fun moment.

The Jaguars have won 15 games since 2017.

Having said all that: Doug Pederson winning a Super Bowl with a backup QB against the best coach and quarterback of all time is one of the best coaching jobs in the modern era of football and I am hoping he saves Trevor Lawrence's career and gives Jags fans some good times.

Shout out to the COACH that made going for it on 4th down the NORM!! Also Super Bowl Champion in year 2 Doug Pederson for being the new Jags coach!! #Eagles pic.twitter.com/Uo3XHflJtl

I actually don’t hate the Doug Pederson hire for the Jags. Obviously, I think Byron Leftwich would have been the best hire but hopefully Pederson can get Trevor Lawrence on the right path.
