On Friday, Cam Newton broke his silence about last weekend’s wild and viral brawl at a 7-on-7 youth football event in Atlanta, Ga. And while it did take a few days, his apology for the incident is being praised across Twitter.
Here are some reactions to Newton’s video from this morning:
Cam Newton’s had his faults – like all of us – but he never threw teammates or coaches under the bus, even when he so often could. Here he is again taking more accountability than he probably should, but he also understands why he’s gotta be above stuff like what happened. https://t.co/XjJYwixVLm

Cam is being more generous and humble here than he has to, in my opinion. Impressive response. https://t.co/m7LMIDEHTn

A bit sad that there's no sunroof on the hat, but I accept his apology. He's human and they were wrong and should be banned from participating. Cam Newton has only been spreading love, immaculate fashions, and couture skull cutouts for years now. He deserved better. https://t.co/1s4VJNyoA9

I appreciate @CameronNewton for understanding the gravity of the altercation he was in. We joke on social media, but in real life, it could have been tragic.
“I’m disappointed in myself, me being in my position, I should’ve never put myself in that position.” Well said, Cam. 👏🏾 pic.twitter.com/HORG62M6mp

Super solid by Cam. He looks at this way different than a lot of other folks who talked about this way more than him. https://t.co/RkrI7rhhyy

I got so much respect for Mr Cam Newton. His self awareness is 2nd to none. He didn't owe anyone an apology for his actions. But he gives it anyway to teach a better way for all his fans & kids watching. He's more of a man, than any of those clowns, who stepped to him! https://t.co/fd2NmhLjlL
