Story update: The incident was addressed by both Sean Payton and Bo Nix after the game. Read their reactions here and here. See our original post below.
After failing to connect on a deep pass to rookie wide receiver Troy Frankin in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a heated moment with coach Sean Payton on the sideline.
Here’s a sampling of how Twitter/X reacted to the sideline spat:

Bo Nix and Sean Payton are having a heated talk with the rest of the Broncos' WRs on the sideline.

That one sparked some frustration on the #Broncos sideline. Bo Nix was hot. Troy Franklin was, too. Sean Payton came over and looked like he had words for Nix.
Courtland Sutton playing peacemaker.

Nix threw a deep pass to the end zone that was dropped by Franklin. Nix and Payton then exchanged words on the sideline after the play.

Broncos fans will recall Payton also having heated moments on the sideline with former Denver quarterback Russell Wilson last fall. Payton downplayed his outbursts against Wilson last season. We’ll see what the coach has to say about Nix’s heated moment after Sunday’s game.
The Broncos were beating the Raiders 20-10 during the exchange and Denver went on to secure a 34-18 win. Nix finished the day with two touchdown passes and another score on the ground.
