If there was a Mount Rushmore of Pittsburgh Sports Broadcasters, Stan Savran would be at the top of the list.

Another Pittsburgh media giant lost, & a great guy to boot. His fans loved him and so did all of us in the business. Stan Savran upheld the highest form of journalism – he reported fairly, held those accountable, and told it all in an entertaining way. I was thrilled to know him https://t.co/JHWH8wIg8y

Sportscasters have become Pittsburgh icons by way of announcing for teams. But Stan Savran did it himself – because of his talent, knowledge, professionalism & classiness. Will never forget doing many WPIAL championships together on TV.

Stan Savran was the most welcoming, encouraging and consistently engaging presence from the first time I walked into the #Steelers media room as a “regular” 11 years ago. I will so miss his stories. And I’m so sorry we never got that last tennis game in, my friend. #RIP 💛 https://t.co/bP6Mf7Vjxy
