Twitter users suffered a host of glitches this afternoon (March 6) which left some users unable to log into the social media platform. Other users found links and images would not load.
The company said: “Some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now. We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences.
“We’re working on this now and will share an update when it’s fixed.”
Attempting to visit Twitter's help page led to users being greeted with an error message, which read. Trying to visit Twitter’s help page on Monday led to an error message saying: “Your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint."
It displayed a link to a software developer page that also did not work. The same message appeared for users of third-party software that used Twitter's services, such as TweetDeck, which allows people to manage multiple accounts.
Internet access watchdog NetBlocks said: “Twitter is currently experiencing international slowdowns and outages affecting many users.” Video and image content was affected, NetBlocks added.
Twitter has suffered from a number of bugs and issues in recent months after it was taken over by Elon Musk. The billionaire businessman axed many of the company's employees. Last month, a bug left users unable to send tweets.
Twitter engineers and experts have been warning the platform is at an increased risk of fraying since Musk fired most of the people who worked on keeping it running.
