Twisha Sharma case update: Father pushed her into glamour world and gave weight loss drugs, she consumed marijuana during pregnancy, claims mother-in-law

The ongoing investigation into the death of Noida woman Twisha Sharma spiralled into a twisted case after her mother-in-law, a retired judge, Giribala Singh, made several claims about her health and personal life. Singh alleged that Twisha Sharma's family pushed her into the world of glamour when she was very young and she remained under mental pressure because of it, reported Times of India. Her father gave her medicines to lose weight and maintain a good figure so she could enter the glamour world of acting, the retired judge claimed.

Twisha Sharma married Samarth Singh in December 2025. She died on May 12, with her family alleging dowry harassment and mental torture by her in-laws. Sharma, a former Miss Pune title holder, also worked in the Telugu movie Mugguru Monagallu, a short film titled 'Zara Sambhal Ke' and commercial advertisements.

Twisha Sharma underwent abortion

Making a series of claims against the 33-year-old woman about drug use, mental health and family background, her mother-in-law said she underwent a medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) and claimed there had been a prolonged estrangement between her and her parents. Twisha consumed marijuana during pregnancy, was undergoing psychiatric treatment, and her parents stayed away for months, Singh claimed.

Speaking about the sequence of events, Singh claimed that Twisha had expressed regret shortly after beginning the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) procedure. “When she started the first course of the MTP, she said she wanted to reverse this, which I knew was not possible. She didn't let us feel that fleeting moment of joy. It is truly heartbreaking; young girls often take this drastic step,” Singh said. Sharing details of the timeline, she added, “On 7th May, she must have taken the pill; she completed the entire MTP procedure, and we had to support her.”

Allegations against family and their absence

Giribala Singh also raised allegations regarding Twisha’s parents, questioning why they were absent during the period. “I also called her mother, as she was needed there. For five months, her parents never visited. We deliberately did not call her father, as he has a very strange personality,” she alleged.

She further claimed, “For nearly twenty years, he has been working in the pharmaceutical industry--specifically in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan; he could potentially be the source of many things. I think they were earning out of all her. But the matter is sub judice.”

Claims about mental health treatment

Speaking to ANI, Singh also stated that Twisha had been undergoing psychiatric counselling and was prescribed medication. “It's a profound loss for us because, whatever the circumstances, she was a part of our family. She went for psychiatric counselling also, and medicines were prescribed to her, which are given to a schizophrenic patient,” Singh said.

She further described fluctuations in Twisha’s condition in the days leading up to her death. “She would remain stable for a day or so, but then again, there would be a slight change in her condition. We observed some physical symptoms, a slight trembling in her hands, which is typical of withdrawal symptoms. She destroyed everything,” she added.

Twisha's family responds

Speaking to reporters, Navnidhi Sharma demanded that his daughter’s body be brought to AIIMS Delhi for a second autopsy before decomposition begins, saying it was necessary to determine the actual cause of death.

Sharma also dismissed allegations that his daughter consumed drugs and instead accused his son-in-law of substance abuse. “They are making allegations about drugs, but those allegations are false. In fact, if any drug-related case is to be made, it should be against their own son, because the whole world knows he is a major drug addict. I strongly suspect this was murder,” news agency PTI quoted Navnidhi Sharma as saying.

Twisha Sharma CCTV footage

A CCTV video that surfaced during the investigation captured what are believed to be Twisha’s final moments before she was found dead. The footage shows Twisha walking alone towards the terrace staircase at around 7.20 am on May 12.

Nearly an hour later, three men — reportedly her husband, a neighbour and a househelp — are seen attempting CPR on the staircase landing. The footage also shows Giribala Singh entering a room and then going downstairs moments later. The CPR attempts appear unsuccessful, after which Twisha is carried downstairs.

Who is Twisha Sharma?

Twisha Sharma, a former Miss Pune title holder, actor, model, digital creator and MBA graduate, was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal earlier this month. Police are currently probing the case as an alleged dowry death, while her family has sought justice and raised serious concerns over the circumstances surrounding her death.

Originally from Noida, Twisha stepped into the modelling industry between 2009 and 2012. With consistent hard work, grooming and determination, she eventually won the Miss Pune beauty pageant title — a breakthrough achievement that paved the way for opportunities in advertising, modelling and acting

According to a LinkedIn profile, Twisha described herself as a dynamic professional with a keen interest in acting and filmmaking, along with marketing. The profile also mentioned that she had worked as a Marketing Manager at Flavor Pot Foods, a Mumbai-based company, and later as a Communications and Onboarding Manager at the German Academy of Digital Education. It was during her corporate phase that Twisha met lawyer Samarth Singh through a dating app in 2024.
