Twelve candidates are running for Wyoming’s At-Large Congressional District this year — the most since 2014

This year’s filing deadline for candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Wyoming was May 29, 2026.

This year has the highest number of candidates since 2014. Twelve candidates — two Democrats and 10 Republicans — are running for Wyoming’s At-Large Congressional District. Three candidates ran in 2024, nine in 2022, five in 2020, five in 2018, 10 in 2016, and three in 2014.

The District is open this year because incumbent Rep. Harriet Hageman (R) is running for the U.S. Senate in Wyoming. This year and 2016 are the only two years since 2014 in which the District has been open.

Both the Democratic and Republican primaries are contested this year. Since 2014, there have been two years in which both primaries were not contested — 2024 and 2014. The Republican primaries were contested those years, while the Democratic primaries were not.

Candidates filed to run in both the Republican and Democratic primaries in the District, meaning the District is not guaranteed to either party.

Wyoming and two other states — Alaska and Florida — are holding U.S. House primaries on Aug. 18, 2026.

In Wyoming, primary winners are determined via plurality vote, meaning that the candidate with the highest number of votes wins even if they did not win an outright majority of votes cast.
