Best TV shows on TV tonight
Blue Lights, 9 pm, BBC One/iPlayer (box set)
The Belfast-set police drama reaches its conclusion tonight, following on from last week’s shocking cliffhanger. Rookies Grace, Annie and Tommy (Nathan Braniff) have all been sorely tested, but that’s nothing compared to what’s just happened. Even as the dodgy surveillance operation, run by Joseph from his weird little caravan, lies in tatters, questions are being asked at the highest level. Blue Lights has not only held its own within the overstuffed genre of police dramas but it’s come out swinging – in particular, episodes four and five provided two of the best hours of TV we’ve seen this year.

Greatest Heists with Pierce Brosnan, 10 pm, Sky History/NOW
The actor swaps movie roles for presenting as he talks us through some of history’s most elaborate real-life heists. Tonight’s opener focuses on the 1971 Baker Street robbery of a Lloyds Bank vault. Later in the eight-part series, Brosnan also investigates the Antwerp diamond heist of 2003, thought to be the largest of all time, and a hold-up that’s technically unsolved but believed to have been carried out by Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch!

Clive Myrie's Italian Road Trip, 6.30 pm, BBC Two/iPlayer (box set)
Fatal Attraction, Paramount Plus
As much fun as the 1987 movie starring Glenn Close and Michael Douglas was, it wasn’t exactly nuanced, but this slow-burn retelling aims to correct that. District attorney Dan (Joshua Jackson) meets victim services advocate Alex (Lizzy Caplan) on a case together, and the spark between them is evident – but after they get too close, things take a sinister turn. Excellent performances from the two leads and a tighter focus on Alex make this a remake with something new to say. The first episode only is also on Channel 5 tomorrow (10 pm), followed by the 1987 movie (11 pm).

Best box set on TV tonight
The family-friendly fantasy is back for a second series this week, with half-human hybrid Gus and his friends having to gather their strength to figure out what caused the Great Crumble, the chaotic era when 98% of the world’s population was killed off by a virus.
But as Gus begins a dark journey to find a cure for a new wave of the Sick, he also learns more about his own origins, as well as his mother Birdie’s role in the events leading up to the collapse of society. Christian Convery (recently seen in Cocaine Bear) returns as Gus, alongside Nonso Anozie and Adeel Akhtar. James Brolin acts as the narrator.

The Martian, 9 pm, BBC Three
A manned mission to Mars is abruptly abandoned, with one crew member left for dead. However, the astronaut has survived and faces a series of challenges - to contact Earth and arrange his rescue and to survive for the years it will take for a spacecraft to reach him on resources intended to last the crew a month. Ridley Scott's sci-fi drama based on the novel by Andy Weir, starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
