TV presenter Laura Jackson followed home by 'really strange man' after London awards bash

TV presenter Laura Jackson has revealed she was left ‘spooked’ after being followed home by a ‘really strange man’ last night.

The 36-year-old decided to get the tube home after a ‘wonderful night’ at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards in central London.

But had she not clocked the man’s behaviour and stayed at the station where she felt safe and alerted staff, she said she had ‘never felt so sure something would have happened.’

Taking to Instagram the next morning to share her experience, she said: “After such a wonderful night, I thought I’d be economical and get the tube home, a route I do many times.

“Unfortunately last night I was followed by a really strange man. That feeling when someone’s watching you on the train, gets off at your stop, walks closely next to you and waits for you to walk ahead to follow you.”

The broadcaster continued: “Sensing that something was off, about to cross the road, I called my sister and walked back to the station. I’ve never felt so sure something would have happened.”

Laura said a Transport for London worker had offered to walk her home before her sister came to pick her up.

“I (was) spooked by my own shadow in my own home all night – something I’ve never experienced,” she wrote.

“It’s absolute BULLS**T now it’s winter we don’t feel safe to walk home at night. I honestly believe my morning would have been different had I not headed back to the station.”

Her post prompted a wave of comments from followers and her famous pals, who detailed their own experience of feeling unsafe in the capital.

Fashion influencer and Elle contributing editor Camille Charriere wrote: “So glad you brought this up and am so glad ur ok. I ALWAYS listen to that gut feeling even when it’s small and am so glad you did too.”

Influencer Lucy Williams, who has a long-standing jewellery partnership with Missoma, said: “What a horrible end to your night. I hate that during winter, I have to be extra vigilant anytime after 5om when out and about or walking the dog. Glad you’re ok xxx.”

Model and writer Charli Howard commented: “I’m so sorry that p**** made you feel scared and glad you’re ok.”

While food writer Rosie Birkett added: “So sorry to read this about the awful man, really pleased you went back to the station. Been followed home before and it’s the worst feeling, such an intrusion and so intimidating. Sending you love xxxx.”

Laura later posted on her Instagram stories thanking the people who had messaged her.

She wrote: “So many messages from (mainly) women telling me they don’t feel safe walking around in winter.

“It’s absolutely bulls*** that now after 4/5pm we potentially have to put an end to anything social – scared to walk home/get the tube/bus.

“Sending love to all the people messaging me telling me about their encounters too.”
