Georgia is 7-2 and needs to beat Tennessee to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive. UMass is just 2-7. The Minutemen do have a shared opponent with Georgia. UMass lost at Mississippi State 45-20 while Georgia beat Mississippi State at home 41-31.
UMass quarterback Taisun Phommachanh also may be familiar to Georgia fans. Phommachanh began his career at Clemson and later transferred to Georgia Tech before ending up at UMass.
The early kickoff time is a scheduling win for Georgia. The Bulldogs get a few more hours to prepare for Georgia Tech, who Georgia plays on Black Friday.
UMass is the second of three consecutive home games that Georgia ends the season with. ESPN’s matchup predictor gives Georgia a 99% chance to beat UMass. Georgia’s offense should finally be able to find a rhythm against UMass’ defense which has struggled all season long.
