Turtle Bay opens its doors in Salford Quays with brand new cocktail menu

The hotly-anticipated Salford Quays outpost of Caribbean restaurant chain Turtle Bay has finally opened its doors. The new spot is located at the waterside terrace overlooking Salford Quays.

Seating up to 180 people, the chain’s third venue boasts the trademark beach shack-style that many will be familiar with, but with some individual touches. A huge sound system stacked with old-school records lines one wall, while the bar and kitchen line another. Meanwhile, a bright and bold colour scheme, plus fixtures and furniture in tropical prints inject some sunshine and colour into the social space.

To celebrate the launch, Turtle Bay have created five brand new cocktails as well as two new Steel Bottom Beers. The new cocktail creations includes the Caribbean Candy Sour with Kingston 62 Gold Rum, amaretto and falernum, green melon liqueur, apple, grapefruit and fresh lime.

The restaurant has also brought some island inspiration to the classic espresso martini with a new Dessert Island cocktail, consisting of dark rum, Tia Maria, cold brew coffee, salted caramel sauce and vanilla.

They’ve also re-worked a classic long island, bringing together Tobago Tea, Duppy White rum, vodka, tequila, gin, triple sec, grapefruit, mango and fresh lime. Classics still feature though, but this time with a new twist, like Jamrock Punch with gin, passionfruit, strawberry, apple, grapefruit & fresh lime.

And back by popular demand is the Tingwray, made up of Wray & Nephew, white rum, grapefruit and fresh lime - a delicious combination of strength and flavour.

The new Steel Bottom Beers, meanwhile, are inspired by one of Jamaica’s most iconic drinks, made up of Red Stripe, supercharged with a shot of rum. Those visiting Turtle Bay’s new outpost can pick from a Jamaican Shandy - cold draft Red Stripe with a shot of Appleton Estate rum, mixed with fiery ginger beer and bitters - or a Pink Stripe - cold draft Red Stripe sweetened with watermelon, grapefruit and strawberry and given extra spirit with a shot of Duppy spiced rum.

Turtle Bay’s all-day food menu, like its other branches, boasts a wide variety of Caribbean soul food and grazing options, from their island-inspired breakfast dishes, to the jerk pit barbecue, buddha bowls and small plates. With vegan and vegetarian options as well as vegan cocktails, all tastes have been catered for.

Fans of their famous Bottomless Brunch will also be glad to see it make an appearance on the menus as well. Diners can enjoy Caribbean cocktail and brunching experience, including unlimited tropical cocktails, mocktails, Red Stripe and prosecco. Guests can go bottomless every day, with the last sitting at 5pm Sunday-Friday and 3pm Saturdays.
