Turnover and pre-tax profits both jumped at a software firm used by the likes of the AO, musicMagpie and Secret Escapes during its latest financial year.

Manchester-headquartered Godel Technologies has posted a turnover of £62.3m for the 12 months to December 31, 2021, up from the £45.9m it achieved in 2020.

The business also reported pre-tax profits of £20.9m for the year, a rise from £12.9m.

The company develops business software including technology for point-of-sale and supply chain management, serving sectors from oil and gas to telecoms, retail, manpower, healthcare, finance and education.

It has offices in the UK, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Bulgaria and also works with Booking.com and Shell Energy.

A statement signed off by the board said: "The year ended 31 December 2021 was another exceptional year of growth for the group.

"The focus on delivering high quality software development services for UK customers has resulted in revenue growth in the year from both existing customers and new customers and the recruitment and retention of the high quality delivery staff which Godel employs in the UK, Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Poland remains a key KPI for the business."

On the impact Russia's invasion of Ukraine has had on the business, it added: "The company has a subsidiary in Ukraine and therefore is directly impacted by the situation.

"The company is also impacted by its presence in Belarus. This is a potential political risk as further sanctions could be extended to this region.

"To mitigate this risk the group have ensured that the functions of the Belarus offices can be managed through multipipe locations as has also been done with Ukrainian-based employees, many of whom have transferred to other group locations.

"The directors are monitoring the situation and are continuing to carry out assessments on the business on an ongoing basis."
