Manchester United fans aren’t taking the latest reports that Jurrien Timber has decided against a move to Old Trafford too well.
The Ajax defender has been made United’s defensive priority this summer as Erik ten Hag gets down to work on his rebuild at Old Trafford. The new United boss is keen to bring the 20-year-old with him to the Premier League after an impressive couple of years in the Netherlands.
No deal has yet been reached, and according to the latest reports from Timber’s homeland, United could be denied in their pursuit of the youngster. Dutch journalist Mike Verweij has suggested the defender is leaning more towards staying with Ajax.

All might not be lost for United, with the report also stating Timber will think more about his future while on holiday. But a frustrating start to the transfer window could be set to continue.
Having seen Liverpool land Darwin Nunez after holding an interest in the former Benfica forward, United could now end up walking away from their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong as they remain a long way away from Barcelona’s valuation of the player. And now Timber’s reported snub has only made matters worse for United fans.
If Timber does choose to stay, United do have a fallback option in David Carmo. United have held two rounds of discussions with the Braga centre-back, and he could well come into the reckoning as Ten Hag looks to land his first signing.
