It’s not just Jane Austen’s 250th anniversary this year; JM Turner was born in 1775 too, and John Constable in 1776. So, the Tate has wrapped both birthdays in a big joint exhibition party. There are 196 pieces in this show, of which 95 are from Tate's own collection.
Before you even ask, there’s no Constable Haywain in the exhibition. But there is Constable's first six-footer – the large scale exhibition pictures for Royal Academy shows - The White Horse from The Frick, which is nearly as good.
