The video of a young girl, aged 7, covering her brother while being trapped under a collapsed structure in Syria will break your heart. A series of earthquakes, the highest one of 7.8 magnitude, struck Turkey and Syria on Monday.
Photos and videos of people trapped inside the debris of broken buildings emerged soon after rescuers got into action. Kids, including babies and infants, were rescued hours after the earthquakes which have claimed more than 8,000 lives, as per official records.
In one such heart-wrenching video, a girl can be seen holding her brother close to her just when the rescuers arrive at the spot.
The video, shot in 17 seconds duration, has been shared by a Twitter account named Vlogging Northwestern Syria. "While under the rubble of her collapsed home this beautiful 7yr old Syrian girl has her hand over her little brothers head to protect him.
Brave soul
They both made it out ok," the video has been captioned.
In the video we can see the girl is responding to rescuers.
"GOD BLESS THEM AND EVERYONE WHO ARE HAVING A TOUGH TIME IN THIS SITUATION THERE," says one Twitter user, while another one writes, "Elder sister is always like a mother."
"Though I don't understand what she's saying the view is heart melting May god bless you and hope your nation recovers soon," writes another Twitter user.
The earthquakes which happened in series in Turkey and Syria caused massive destruction as powerful aftershocks continued hours later. The death toll is expected to increase. Rescuers are seen looking for people trapped under collapsed buildings and bringing them out. Governments across the world responded quickly and gave their support to Turkey.
