Turkey scraps Covid travel rules for UK holidaymakers in Foreign Office update

Turkey has scrapped all Covid travel restrictions in a welcome boost for UK holidaymakers.

Travellers no longer need to show a negative Covid test or proof of vaccination if they're planning to visit for a holiday from this month.

The popular destination joins a list of more than 30 countries without Covid rules this summer, including the likes of Cyprus, Croatia and Greece.

The Foreign Office has since changed its travel advice for Turkey to reflect the changes.

However, it does note that "COVID-19 entry requirements may change at short notice, you should check the specifics with your airline before you travel".

Meanwhile, local restrictions have also been lifted including face masks, which are no longer required either indoors or outdoors, provided there can be social distancing in place.

The lifting of both the travel rules and local restrictions came into force from June 1, meaning you won't need tests or proof of vaccine if you have a holiday booked even before the peak summer season.

Turkey's national airline Turkish Airlines has also updated passengers to say the previous requirements "have been cancelled".

It added: "Wearing a mask on international flights to Türkiye (Turkey) is at the passenger's discretion."

Travel rules can change quickly due to the nature of the pandemic. Always check the Foreign Office's latest Turkey travel advice before booking a trip and travelling.
