Turkey has announced new restrictions on exports to Israel in response to Israel's denial of a request to airdrop aid to Gaza. The Turkish Ministry of Trade has imposed a ban on the export of 54 items, particularly those that could be used for military or construction purposes.
The ministry's statement condemned Israel for obstructing access to essential food, medical care, and supplies for the people of Gaza. The ban will remain in effect until Israel declares an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and allows a sufficient flow of humanitarian aid to the region.
Among the restricted items are steel and aluminium materials, cement, electrical cables, and construction and metalworking machinery. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced these measures following Israel's rejection of Turkey's request to participate in a Jordanian aid operation for Gaza.
Fidan expressed disappointment over Israel's refusal to allow the airlifting of aid to Gaza, emphasizing that there is no justification for blocking humanitarian assistance to the region. Turkey's decision to impose export restrictions is part of a series of measures taken against Israel in response to the aid dispute.
