Updated statements have been issued by a number of the major airlines following scenes of travel chaos across a number of UK airports. TUI, Jet2, EasyJet and Ryanair have issued latest advice to travellers using Birmingham Airport over the weekend.
It comes after a number of cancellations at airports across the UK over the past week, some of which impacted Birmingham. British Airways and EasyJet cancelled more than 150 flights combined and there has been widespread reports of disruption, long waits on aircrafts due to staff shortages and baggage delays, Birmingham Live reports.
East Midlands Airport has issued statements assuring passengers it will be able to ensure smooth travel for them and "plans are in place to ensure we respond to this extra demand".
And Birmingham Airport, which is within an hour's drive from Nottingham, has said 150,000 holidaymakers are expected to pass through the terminal doors over the long weekend. The hub, which has been hit by long queues in recent months, is braced for 89 per cent of pre-Covid customer volumes to return over the extended weekend.

Reports of disruption in the terminal, baggage hall and on grounded plans had caused anxiety for travellers jetting off over the Queen's Jubilee. All four airline giants issued an update today (June 3) to BirminghamLive confirming there were no planned flight cancellations from Birmingham Airport on Friday.
They also provided information if customers need to claim compensation in the rare event they do have to cancel their flight.
Jet2 statement
A spokesperson for Jet2 said: "I can confirm that Jet2.com has not cancelled any flights and does not plan to cancel any upcoming flights from Birmingham Airport."
Tui statement
A spokesperson for Tui said: "I can confirm our flights from Birmingham Airport are operating as planned, or with a very minimal delay, today."
EasyJet statement
A spokesperson for EasyJet said: "We’ve not planned to cancel any flying from BHX this weekend – hope this helps."
Ryanair statement
A spokesperson for Ryan Air said: "There are currently no planned cancellations/delays to Ryanair flights operating to/from UK airports due to airport handling/security issues.
"In the rare event of a flight cancellation or a delay of over 5 hours, Ryanair customers will be notified via email and offered two options:
- A full refund
- A free change of flight
"Where a flight is delayed for over 2 hours, Ryanair offers customers a free change of flight. However, customers may still choose to wait and take their original flight if they so wish."
