TUI and easyJet issue warning to travellers ahead of Easter weekend

As we are well into the Easter break, airports are seeing a surge of keen holidaymakers ready to jet off.

But reports from across the UK have shown that some airports are struggling with demand - with some passengers missing their flights due to long security queues.

On top of that, easyJet and British Airways have had to cancel over 100 flights due to staffing issues, impacting Glasgow Airport.

Now TUI and easyJet have issued an urgent warning to travellers ahead of the four-day Easter weekend.

As the Daily Record reports, TUI issued an update on its website and said: "We are aware of security queue delays at some airports, predominately Birmingham and Manchester.

"We are working closely with our partners to monitor the situation and open check-in as early as possible.

"We advise customers to please plan to arrive at the airport and proceed to check-in as normal, keeping in mind that standard check-in opens at least two and a half hours before departure time for short and mid-haul flights, and at least three and a half hours before departure for long-haul flights."

The airline added that customers should consider its Day before Bag Drop andSelf Service Bag Drop to keep queuing to a minimum before their holiday.

Customers travelling with just hand luggage can also check in online via Manage My Booking and simply proceed straight to departures.

The travel carrier are also contacting all of their customers jetting off in the next two weeks to offer additional guidance on travelling throughout the busy holiday period, TUI have said.

Meanwhile easyJet urged passengers to get to the airport two hours before their flight.

Within the last 11 hours, easyJet issued an update and said: "There may be delays at the airport security control before your flight and we recommend that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight time.

"Please have your bags ready before you go through security, making sure that any liquids are carried in a see-through and resealable bag, and that any electronic items are carried separately.

"The boarding gate will close promptly 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please share this message with any other customers who are travelling with you."

The carrier also sent an email to passengers who are set to fly with them soon with the same message.
