Pop Idol star Darius Danesh found dead aged 41 as tributes paid

Former Pop Idol contestant and theatre star Darius Campbell Danesh has been found dead in his US apartment room at the age of 41, his family announced.

The Scots singer was found dead in his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota, his family said. His cause of the death remains unknown.

A statement from his family read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh. Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners’ office.

Holidaymaker caught out by little-known luggage ban - easyJet, BA and Ryanair rules

An easyJet flier caught out by a luggage rule has taken to social media to warn fellow holidaymakers.

Author Pandora Sykes said she was unable to board due to a specific feature of her luggage. Pandora, who hosted the popular podcast The High Low, warned "anyone so foolish to fly easyJet" after stumbling across smart bag restrictions.

The high-tech luggage comes with a lithium battery or power bank used to power itself or to conveniently recharge devices like mobile phones.

The four Scottish villages named among the 'poshest' places to live in UK

A luxury British estate agents has just named the poshest villages in the UK. Savills' research, which it has shared with The Telegraph, named the most desirable villages to live in 54 counties across England, Wales and Scotland.

The extensive list contains four locations in Scotland, including villages in Fife, East Lothian, Perthsire and Stirling. With one village chosen per region, "based on the combination of highest house prices, best lifestyle amenities, connectivity and chocolate-box appeal", the Telegraph says.

Shocked Scots residents' horror as 'lovely lady' and dog mowed down by unoccupied car

Shocked residents have told of their horror after their neighbour and her dog were mowed down by an unoccupied car which rolled down a hill on their street.

The 80-year-old lady, named locally as May Cullen, was with her little pooch Oscar on Willow Drive in Airdrie when the pair were knocked down and killed at 8.30pm on Saturday. Locals told how they heard a bang before rushing out to try and save the popular OAP, with some trying to administer CPR.

Essential PIP tips for DWP assessments in-person, over the phone or by video call

The latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show that at the end of April, 2022 there were three million people across the UK claiming support through Personal Independence Payments (PIP), with just over one in three claimants (35%) receiving the highest level of award.

Of the overall total, 313,620 people living in Scotland are now receiving financial support of between £24.45 and £156.90 each week and as the benefit is paid every four weeks, this amounts to between £97.80 and £627.60 every payment period.
