Tua Tagovailoa Doesn’t Care About Media Criticism, but He Is Still Keeping Receipts

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a lot to say while speaking with reporters on Wednesday.

In an answer that went on for over two minutes, Tagovailoa explained that he didn’t mind taking criticism from the media because he didn’t let it affect him, but that he was keeping receipts on his doubters.

“I understand that my platform, who I am in this league as a quarterback, makes me polarizing,” Tagovailoa said. “Whether I’m the best. Whether I’m the worst. I could care less. I don’t listen to it.”

While Tagovailoa insisted that he shut out the noise, he also said that he was tracking whatever critiques came his way, and sarcastically dismissed the narratives he believed that some figures in the media attempted to force onto him and his teammates.

“I keep receipts. We all have a way of how we do things. But all the narratives about it? Yeah sure. I am only good with Tyreek [Hill] in. You’re right,” Tagovailoa said with a laugh. “That is the only time I am at my best. I’m only good when Jaylen [Waddle]’s in. I could care less about it. Sure.

“If that’s what the narrative needs to be, and we’re able to win games and we’re able to go where we want to go as a team, I am the worst football player if that’s what you want. I don’t care. I really don’t.”

The Dolphins are coming off of a dominant 30–0 win over the Jets last week but face a huge test to finish out the season, with games against the CowboysRavens and Bills to end the year.

With their challenging schedule on the horizon, Tagovailoa and the Miami offense will have plenty of opportunities to prove any doubters wrong with their play on the field.
