White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia did not pass the bar exam despite repeatedly identifying herself as a lawyer during media appearances.
Attorney licensing searches across all 50 states and the District of Columbia yielded no record of Zacharia being admitted to practice law.
While Zacharia claimed she practiced international law in China , country regulations prohibit non-citizens from taking the bar exam or becoming lawyers.
The Campaign for Accountability filed a legal complaint with the State Bar of California regarding Zacharia's unauthorized representation as a lawyer.
President Trump and White House officials defended Zacharia, describing her as uniquely qualified and a brilliant addition to the administration.
