Trump’s $600m ballroom security argument has one big problem buried 60 feet underground

Former officials argue President Donald Trump's justification for a $600 million White House ballroom is undermined by an existing nuclear-proof bunker completed under Barack Obama.
White House spokespeople counter that the new East Wing project is necessary to add modern security features, including drone-proof structures for large events.
The U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering an emergency appeal to halt the project after lower courts ruled it requires congressional approval.
Chief Justice John Roberts issued an order allowing construction crews to continue work on the facility while the court considers the case.
