US President Donald Trump has threatened further military action against Iran as Washington continues efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while fresh attacks in the region targeted Kuwait and commercial shipping, escalating tensions across the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Cabinet members at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland on Friday, Trump said the US wanted to "win" in Iran and indicated that American military operations could continue.
