Trump threatened to ‘divorce’ Netanyahu over Gaza peace plan, book claims

  • President Donald Trump reportedly berated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call last fall over a U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire plan.
  • According to the new book Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump , Trump used a “foul-mouthed tirade” to pressure Netanyahu to accept the agreement.
  • Trump told Netanyahu that “Everybody’s sick of you, Bibi” and warned of “a divorce” between the two allies if he did not comply.
  • The peace plan was devised by Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner following an Israeli airstrike on a Hamas leader in Doha, Qatar.
  • Netanyahu ultimately accepted the agreement and apologized for the airstrike, though he later convinced Trump to join Israel in a war with Iran.
