President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at eliminating what he refers to as the 'electric vehicle mandate' imposed by former President Joe Biden. The order, titled 'Unleashing American Energy,' seeks to promote consumer choice by removing regulatory barriers to motor vehicle access and ensuring a level playing field for vehicle options.

Contrary to Trump's claims, there is no mandate under Biden to force the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs). However, Biden's policies were designed to incentivize Americans to choose EVs and encourage car manufacturers to transition from gas-powered vehicles to electric cars.
