Donald Trump says American taxpayers will no longer foot the bill for television advertisements promoting his presidency, with his political operation stepping in after the campaign-style spots triggered criticism from both Democrats and Republicans.
The president announced on Monday that future advertisements would instead be paid for personally or using money raised for MAGA Inc., the pro-Trump super PAC, which has roughly $400 million (£302.5 million) at its disposal. A White House official subsequently confirmed that MAGA Inc. would pay for the advertisements going forward.
