As the hush money trial involving former President Donald Trump continues, witness testimony is set to resume on Friday following a dramatic week of proceedings. The trial, now in its 15th day, has seen significant developments, including the testimony of porn actor Stormy Daniels.

Daniels' detailed testimony over two days captivated jurors and drew criticism from the defense, who argued it was prejudicial. Despite defense attempts to declare a mistrial, the judge denied the requests, emphasizing the importance of timely objections during testimony.

Following Daniels' testimony, other witnesses, including a former Trump Organization executive assistant and a HarperCollins Publishing executive, took the stand. Prosecutors are preparing for the testimony of star witness Michael Cohen, who arranged the $130,000 payment to Daniels and later faced legal consequences for his involvement.

The case centers on allegations that Trump and his associates orchestrated a scheme to influence the 2016 election by concealing damaging stories. Trump has pleaded not guilty to charges of falsifying business records related to the hush money payments.

Despite the focus on Daniels' account of an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump, the trial hinges on business transactions and whether the payments were made to unlawfully influence the election.

In a recent development, it was revealed that Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model who alleged an affair with Trump, may not testify in the trial. Trump's legal team continues to face challenges related to a gag order that restricts Trump from publicly discussing the case.

As the trial progresses, Trump is expected to return to court on Friday for further witness testimony. Prosecutors are working towards Cohen's testimony, which is crucial to the case against the former president.
