The trial date for the prosecution of former President Donald Trump’s classified documents front-runner case is set for August 14th, 2023.

“The timeline on the Classified Docs Case is likely to be delayed due to pretrial litigation and the handling of classified material,” said The New York Times.

U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon, who is presiding over the case, has experienced delays in previous cases.

Cannon is also under scrutiny for disrupting the investigation into Trump’s possession of confidential documents, only to be overturned by a conservative appeals court.

Trump and his aide Walt Nauta were both indicted on June 8th, 2023

“The 45th U.S. president obstructed investigators and shared classified information with visitors to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.,” said Federal prosecutors, led by Special Counsel Jack Smith

It is speculated that Trump may seek to delay the trial since he still doesn’t have a legal team after his attorneys resigned.
