Advisers to Donald Trump in Michigan are closely monitoring the Arab American vote in the upcoming election. They believe that these voters may not turn out in the same numbers for Kamala Harris as they did for President Joe Biden in 2020 due to dissatisfaction with the administration's handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict.
In 2016, Trump won Michigan, but in 2020, he lost the state. A campaign adviser mentioned anecdotal evidence of Arab Americans expressing support for third-party candidate Jill Stein. The campaign's outreach efforts are aimed at increasing Trump's support among this demographic.
If Arab American voters do choose to vote for Stein, it would be in line with the Republicans' efforts to influence the outcome. A Republican-affiliated super PAC has been running a minute-long ad on Detroit radio urging voters to support Stein over Harris due to the latter's stance on Israel.
The Badger Values PAC, a Republican-led organization, has been actively spending in Michigan and Wisconsin to boost support for Stein and Trump. Trump allies have also been engaging with Arab American voters, hosting events to encourage those dissatisfied with the current administration to consider voting for Stein or Trump.
