Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign has taken a unique and daring approach by heavily relying on wealthy conservative groups for support in data, infrastructure, and financial resources to secure the necessary 270 electoral votes. One of the key players in this strategy is Turning Point Action, led by Trump loyalist Charlie Kirk and headquartered in Arizona.
Turning Point Action, an affiliate of Turning Point USA, has invested significant funds in Arizona for a robust get-out-the-vote initiative. Interestingly, Trump's campaign has delegated much of the groundwork to them, with the 'Chase the Vote' program at the forefront. This initiative has established a strong infrastructure in the state, focusing on 'relational organizing.'
Relational organizing involves employing 'ballot chasers,' dedicated staff members tasked with cultivating relationships with specific community members to ensure their participation in the election. Each ballot chaser is responsible for a list of 400 to 600 voters, assisting them in various ways such as providing transportation to polling stations, aiding in mailing their ballots, and promoting early voting.
This reliance on external groups represents a novel and untested approach, with its success being uncertain until now. If this strategy proves effective, the campaign will undoubtedly celebrate a hard-earned victory, having overcome skepticism from both Republican and Democratic circles regarding the feasibility of this unconventional tactic.
