Trump repeats claims he worked with first responders after 9/11 despite no evidence

  • President Donald Trump recently reiterated claims that he visited Ground Zero and assisted with recovery efforts shortly after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
  • In a Fox News interview, Trump said he witnessed the second plane crash into the Twin Towers and subsequently brought construction workers to help at the site.
  • First responders and former FDNY officials have repeatedly said they “never witnessed” Trump at Ground Zero.
  • On the day of the attacks in 2001, Trump claimed during a live phone interview that his property at 40 Wall Street had become the tallest building in lower Manhattan.
  • Trump is not expected to attend New York City's upcoming memorial for the 25th anniversary of the attacks, which all four living former presidents are expected to attend.
