However, Nikki Haley is gaining momentum and has surpassed Ron DeSantis in popularity, according to the poll. This poll is of great importance as it sets the stage for the upcoming Iowa caucus.
The poll indicates that Trump is performing more like an incumbent president rather than a challenger. Historically, the most any candidate has won with in an open race is 35%, achieved by Bob Dole in 1996. If Trump surpasses this number, it would be considered a significant victory, if the poll numbers hold true.
