President Donald Trump’s decision to impose 50% tariffs on roughly $20 billion of Canadian goods is escalating a trade confrontation at precisely the wrong moment for U.S. energy security.
The measures target products including alcohol, dairy, furniture, cement, paper and… hockey sticks. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called the duties the latest in "a series of tariffs in direct violation" of the CUSMA trade agreement.
