Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder shared new details on Monday regarding the second assassination attempt on former President Trump. Snyder revealed that Trump personally invited the officers who apprehended the suspect to his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Deputies under Snyder's command received information from Palm Beach County authorities about the suspect, Ryan Routh's vehicle description and tags. This crucial information enabled the deputies to swiftly locate Routh on northbound Interstate 95.
Snyder expressed gratitude for locating Routh's vehicle, stating, 'Thank God we found that car.' He believed that their swift action provided Trump with a sense of security.
Trump extended an invitation to the law enforcement officers involved in Routh's arrest to visit Mar-a-Lago and personally thank them for their efforts. Snyder confirmed that Trump indeed invited the officers to his estate.
Routh was apprehended near the Palm City exit on I-95. It took approximately 2 miles for authorities to coordinate and surround Routh's vehicle, eventually forcing it to a stop.
Snyder noted that Routh attempted to blend in with traffic to evade capture, stating, 'He was smart, he was just driving with the flow of traffic. I think that he may have thought that he got away with it.'
