Other individuals in the running for the position of secretary of state include Sens. Bill Hagerty of Tennessee and Tom Cotton of Arkansas. Additionally, several other close associates of Trump are reportedly under consideration for various Cabinet positions.
Top Trump adviser Susie Wiles is said to be a leading candidate for chief of staff, although former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is also being considered for the role. Chris LaCivita, a senior campaign adviser for Trump 2024, may potentially fill a counselor or senior adviser position. Stephen Miller, a former White House official and current senior adviser to the former president, is also reportedly being considered for a counselor or senior adviser role.
Outside of the immediate circle, Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, is rumored to be a contender for treasury secretary, while Ric Grenell, the former acting director of U.S. national intelligence, is being considered for the role of national security adviser.
As of now, President Trump has not officially confirmed any Cabinet appointments for a potential second administration, should he emerge victorious in the upcoming 2024 election.
