Trump banned three news outlets from White House. Now they sue administration citing First Amendment violation

President Trump is now facing a legal challenge after his administration barred three news outlets from covering the White House last week. CNN, MS NOW, and Politico filed a lawsuit on Monday in district court in Washington, D.C., claiming the move violates the First Amendment and disrupts their ability to inform the public about government activities, The Hill reported.

The attorneys representing these organizations argued in their filing that the ban “could not be a more direct assault on the First Amendment nor a more blatant violation of our most fundamental constitutional principles.” The lawsuit contends that the block “retaliates against protected newsgathering and speech in violation of the First Amendment.”
