Former President Donald Trump has announced that his inaugural committee will be led by Florida real estate investor Steven Witkoff and former Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler, both described as 'longtime friends and supporters.' Trump stated that this committee will mark the beginning of his administration, which aims to fulfill his promises to 'Make America Great Again.'
Witkoff, who is known as the president-elect's golf partner, was reportedly present during a second attempted assassination targeting Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, in September.
Trump's previous inauguration faced scrutiny due to its extravagant spending. The chair of the inaugural committee at that time, California billionaire Tom Barrack, raised $107 million for the event. Additionally, Trump's businesses and the inaugural committee settled a lawsuit with Washington, D.C., agreeing to pay $750,000. The lawsuit alleged that the committee had overpaid for events at Trump's hotel, potentially benefiting the former president's family.
Despite these controversies, the committee maintained that its finances were independently audited and that all expenditures were made in compliance with the law.
