A senior advisor to Trump's campaign highlighted the broad support for the former president, emphasizing that the donations are coming from voters across the spectrum. The campaign aims to close the fundraising gap with President Joe Biden and the Democrats, who reportedly brought in $53 million in February and had $155 million cash on hand at the end of that month.
Biden recently held a successful fundraiser in New York City with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, raising a record $26 million. The Biden campaign has been fundraising jointly with the Democratic National Committee since the launch of his reelection campaign.
Trump's fundraising efforts have seen a significant boost since merging with the Republican National Committee. His political operation, including the Save America political action committee, raised $15.9 million in February. Save America has been covering Trump's legal expenses in various court cases.
With new leadership at the RNC and joint fundraising efforts, Trump's campaign is aiming to capitalize on higher contribution limits. The campaign is set to hold a high-dollar fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, with a target of $33 million in donations.
The fundraising agreement directs donations to prioritize Trump's campaign and Save America before allocating funds to the RNC and state parties. Donors contributing to the Palm Beach event will have a portion of their donations allocated to different entities based on their contribution levels.
