Troye Sivan has revealed that his new song She’s the Best is inspired by his close friends Charli xcx, Lily‑Rose Depp and Ariana Grande.
The Australian pop star got his Boy Erased co-star Nicole Kidman to feature in the music video for the title track from his forthcoming album, which is a tribute to all the women that have inspired him.
He told Rolling Stone: "It’s a collage of so many people in my life, but specific lyrics definitely are attributed to different people. I’m in my happiest place when I am standing next to a woman being like, “Everyone, look at this. Do you see what I see?”
He continued: "I’m a gay guy. To be able to have made music with Ariana [Grande] … Lily-Rose Depp is a really close friend of mine; I filmed The Idol with her for a year and a half basically. And then touring with Charli [xcx] and growing up sort of alongside her … From a professional standpoint, I’ve always just loved being in the orbit of these women. It’s definitely a love letter to all of those people."
The 31-year-old singer also revealed whether he is collaborating with Addison Rae, after he shared pictures of them hanging out online.
He said: "Honestly, no. I just think she’s 100 per cent one of the girls, that she has that thing where you’re just like, 'Wow.' She’s effervescent. She’s like sunshine. She’s the sweetest girl in the whole world and truly has a star quality that is just absolutely undeniable.
"We go into this wig shop and she goes into the window, which is on Hollywood Boulevard, and she’s got this big red wig on, and she’s doing all this crazy s***, and I’m just like, 'Wow.' You know what I mean? I’m there with my phone taking a million photos of her."
Troye also hailed her debut album, 2025's Addison, "genuinely one of the best pop albums of the last 15 years."
He added: "That album was so clear and inspired and cool."
