AGARTALA: The authorities of the state-run Tripura Medical College (TMC) has promised the High Court of Tripura that the suspension order against Anindita Bhowmik, a physiotherapist at the institution and daughter of BJP MLA from Belonia, over a social media post would be withdrawn within two working days.
Without citing any reason, chief executive officer of TMC Swapan Saha had suspended Bhowmik on March 27 last year. The order was issued a day after she wrote a Facebook post criticising the role of an OSD in the installation of a CT scan machine at TMC, the contract of which was given to a private party without following due procedure.
Bhowmik told the media that after suspending her from service, the TMC authorities had initiated disciplinary proceedings against her, based on fabricated and distorted facts, which are still pending in the high court. However, as her suspension has been withdrawn after 11 months, she can now resume service.
