GUWAHATI: All India Trinamool Congress on Monday released a list of its 27 star campaigners, which include party supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, for the June 23 byelections to four Tripura assembly seats.
Party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who is one of the star campaigners, will open the campaign on Tuesday with a road show at Bardowali constituency where chief minister Manik Saha will be contesting from.
The four constituencies going to the byelections are Jubrajnagar, Agartala, Bordowali and Surma and TMC has fielded candidates in all the constituencies.
These seats fell vacant following death of the CPM MLA from Jubarajnagar RC Nath, resignation of two BJP MLAs, Sudip Roy Barman (Agartala) and Ashis Kumar Saha (Bardowali), who had joined Congress, and resignation of another BJP MLA Ashis Das (Surma) who has joined Trinamool Congress.
The other notable star campaigners include Shatrughan Sinha, former Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma and former Assam Congress president Ripun Bora.
