Trigger Point viewers have major gripe with ITV after episode one of Vicky McClure thriller

Millions tuned in for the launch of Trigger Point on Sunday night, but many had the same complaint during episode one.

After loads of hype, the new thriller from Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio and starring Vicky McClure and Adrian Lester made its debut in the prime time 9pm slot after the return of The Good Karma Hospital.

As fans were left wondering why Vera wasn't on, those who settled down to watch Trigger Point were soon annoyed by one thing - adverts.

Line of Duty fans are used to being able to watch full 60 minute episodes of the smash hit drama without any interruption on the BBC and they didn't adjust well to the action being put on pause for ads as Vicky switched channels to star as explosives officer Lana Washington.

One took to Twitter to rant: "Why does Trigger Point have to be on ITV -these adverts are ruining it," with a second, equally annoyed, posting: " #ITV I'm watching trigger point, trying to enjoy it but your adverts are destroying the mood, every 15 minutes, please curb the annoying ads"

A third sarcastically tweeted: "I hope Trigger Point isn't spoiling your enjoyment of the adverts," but another viewer said the adverts helped them to take a breather as the drama ramped up, commenting: "I thought that adverts would be annoying while watching Trigger Point, but it turns out they are very handy to help catch your breath!"

With their tongue firmly in their cheek, another Twitter user offered advice to their fellow viewers, responding: "Trigger point - everyone moaning about adverts. Just watch it 20 mins later and forward through. Simple!"

Vicky herself took to Twitter as the credits rolled on episode 1's dramatic conclusion, posting: "How we doing?!" along with a shocked emoji, before adding: "(Even I jumped!!)"
