Trigger Point exclusive clip released ahead of Sunday's new episode

An "exclusive" clip has been released ahead of Sunday's upcoming episode of the hugely popular new ITV series Trigger Point.

The six-part drama revolves around the work of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad.

Line Of Duty actress Vicky McClure stars in the new drama, where she plays bomb disposal officer Lana Washington, who, alongside her colleagues, is tasked with helping to bring down a terrorist campaign that is threatening London.

Ahead of this Sunday's third episode, ITV has announced that Trigger Point is now officially its "highest rated drama" in the past 12 months, with nearly 10 million viewers watching the launch episode to date. This includes viewing after seven days on ITV and ITV Hub.

The ITV series began on January 23 and got off to a jumpy start.

Tensions continued in the second episode, with Lana desperately trying to defuse a nail bomb, which was hung on a door with someone chained behind it, with around two minutes on the clock.

And the exclusive clip for the third episode, shown above, continues where it left off - with Lana desperately trying to defuse the bomb in time.

Speaking to the seemingly terrified man chained behind the door, Lana tells him: "Listen to me. I know it's scary. I'm a bit scared but it's going to be fine. I'm just going to get some tools out so stay really still and really quiet, yeah?"

Meanwhile tensions are also building outside, where detective Thom Youngblood - Lana's love interest - yells a final warning.

"You've got 90 seconds Lana," he yells. "You need to hurry."

But viewers will have to wait to see what will happen next.

The six-part drama is written by Daniel Brierley and executive produced by Jed Mercurio - the brains behind Line of Duty and Bodyguard - and produced by HTM Television.

Trigger Point returns to screens next Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
