The world-renowned architect who designed Salford's iconic Lowry arts centre and theatre has died aged 84.
Bosses at The Lowry and civic leaders have paid tribute to the life and work of Michael Wilford CBE, saying his vision would 'live on forever through the beautiful building he created'.
The Salford Quays complex opened at Pier 8 in April 2000, with the late Queen Elizabeth II presiding over an official ceremony in the October.
