The devastated schoolmates of a teenager who suddenly collapsed and died while having dinner out with his family have paid tributes to the youngster.
Members of staff and off-duty paramedics rushed to help Euan McNamara, 15, who had been out at Liverpool One’s Browns restaurant on Saturday, October 22.
He was rushed to Royal Liverpool Hospital where he later died.
His school, St Mary’s College, has posted a moving tribute on its social media page, Liverpool Echo reported.
They said: “The St. Mary’s College community is grieving following the sudden death of Euan McNamara, a much-loved member of Year 11 and our school family.
"The news of Euan’s death has come as a terrible shock to us all and our thoughts and prayers are with Euan’s family and friends including his sister, Megan, a Year 9 pupil at our school.
"To pass away at such a young age is truly tragic, and Euan’s sad loss is keenly felt throughout the whole St. Mary’s community.
"We will all remember Euan in our own way and will cherish our memories of him in our hearts forever. We will remember Euan’s friendship and love; his strong sense of justice, and his passion to do what he believed was right.
"We will also remember Euan’s unending curiosity; always asking lots of questions about anything and everything. Above all, we will remember the joy and smiles he brought to so many of us on a daily basis.
"A keen sportsman, Euan was often found on the rugby, football and cricket field, supporting his team, encouraging all around him to do their best; he was a talented sportsman and an example to everyone.
"Euan will remain with us in our hearts, in our thoughts and prayers, and in everything we do over the coming days, weeks and years.
"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.”
Earlier Euan’s parents Michael and Sian paid tribute to their “loving and caring” son.
They said: "On Saturday teatime, after an afternoon’s shopping, we were at Browns restaurant in Liverpool as a family with our son Euan, daughter Megan and close friends when Euan unexpectedly collapsed.
“Despite immediate medical intervention by off-duty medics, Euan later sadly passed away in hospital.
"Euan was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. He was studying for his GCSE exams, a keen rugby player, cricket player and LFC Supporter, regularly attending games with family and friends.
"Euan was loved and adored by all who knew him and his death has left a massive void in all of our lives. He was a handsome, loving, caring boy with an infectious personality that touched everyone he met.
"We are devastated by what has happened, and hope that in the forthcoming days we will find out why Euan has been cruelly taken away from us.”
