Tributes are pouring in for a “wonderful” mother who died in hospital a week after being knifed at home in south east London.
The 33-year-old, named locally as Leila, suffered multiple wounds in Penhill Road, Bexley on January 16.
She was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly lost her fight for life on January 23.
Tony Curant, also 33, of the same address, was arrested and charged with attempted murder before her death.
Curant appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court last Monday and is remanded in custody to the Old Bailey on February 5, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.
Leila’s family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.
A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
Candles, bouquets of flowers and handwritten notes have been left at the scene of the killing.
One read: “Leila, this is so heartbreaking.
“You have left some wonderful memories that will never fade from our hearts. You were a kind soul. We hare thinking of your beautiful babies.. until we meet again.”
Another said: “We only spoke a handful of times at the school gate but your strength always shone through.
“I always admired you for being such a good and together mum. You were always calm and just cracked on.
“It was clear how much you loved your three beautiful kids and they you.
“Sleep tight from one mummy to another.”
Louie French, Tory MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup, added: “My thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family.
“This is a truly tragic case that has shocked our community.
“Out of respect for the family and ongoing criminal investigation, I would urge everyone to please be respectful and to not speculate.”
