Tributes to loved young Edinburgh woman who has died at just 27

Tributes have poured in for a well loved Edinburgh bouncer who sadly and suddenly passed away last weekend.

Chelsea Tant, 27, was a recognisable individual through her work in the night time economy of the capital having worked at various pubs and clubs in the city centre. As well as this, she volunteered with charity Street Assist, who are known to offer support, advice and first aid to a variety of individuals over the weekend night time hours.

It is understood that those closest to Chelsea have felt a sense of deep shock and loss after hearing the news. The community champion had several tributes paid to her on Monday morning, with Chelsea being described as the “loveliest person inside and out” who “could light up any room", the Daily Record reports.

Her cousin Elaine Tant said: “Rest in paradise Chelsea, your smile could light up any room you entered and you always made people smile. You will be missed by so so many cuz.”

Jack Trish said: “Fly high cousin never ever thought I’d have to be writing this so soon. My heart’s breaking for my cousins auntie and uncle. You were, and are, loved and missed dearly already. Have a cuddle with my mum for me - she will be happy to have her niece to giggle with again! I love you.”

Charmaine Tant said: “You are free from your demons now you are at rest Chelsea. Can't believe this has happened. Can't get my head around the fact I'm never going to see you again. Rest easy sister, love you millions.”

After spending time volunteering with Street Assist Edinburgh, Chelsea stayed in touch with the team and they were left heartbroken by the news.

Director Neil Logan said: “We are absolutely devastated. We have many happy memories of the outwardly, bubbly character, who always loved to be front and centre of a group selfie.

“Chelsea was a well known face working as a door steward in many of the pubs and clubs around Edinburgh and volunteering with Street Assist. Always with a smile on her face and brilliant when helping others, she was a real asset to the project and made many friends .

“Even when she wasn’t a regular volunteer, Chelsea would still call in on a Friday or Saturday night asking us to help someone she had come across or catch up with old friends. I know this world was tough for you Chelsea, but I hope you find peace in the next and we will miss your happy smile.”

John Laidlaw, who used to work with Chelsea, added: “Sad to hear the passing of Chelsea Tant. By far the nicest, easiest and most enjoyable bouncer I ever worked with in this scene and I’m sure that was only a fraction of the person she was.”

In a poignant tribute, Marcus Lee McNeill said: "You meet people who forget you. You forget people you meet. But sometimes you meet those people you can’t forget.

"Those people are your friends. The bond between friends cannot be broken by change, no interval of time or space can destroy it. Not even death itself can part true friends. There are some who bring a light so great to the world even after they have gone, the light remains. Rest in peace now Chelsea - until we meet again."

Ellie Codona added: “Sleep tight too, the most precious woman I knew. I’ll love you forever Chelsea, you are so loved and missed already, forever in my heart.”

And Claire Day Meikle said: "Honestly I still can’t believe you are gone. I was only talking to you a couple a weeks ago. Lovely person inside and out."
